I haven’t watched Metropolis in ages. Need to. I had a chance to watch it in the theater with someone playing the theremin live it was fucking incredible.

Something in the woods.

Something in the woods.

Just watched V/H/S/ alone in the dark and was freaked the fuck out. You see the shit I post on tumblr, none of that freaks me out. Paranormal shit, ghost, etc. fun but I just find it aesthetically pleasing, it doesn’t give me goosebumps or shivers at all.
But this movie which was shot entirely with handheld, spy, and web cams, managed to make me cuddle my fat cat Mark a little tighter as people were being disemboweled by paranormal monsters with VHS static lines.
A movie within a movie within a movie, you the viewer are a mega-voyeur as you watch other people watching videos that always end with someone dying horribly. There are a dozen little stories within the movie as you watch people watch these videos to the point where when you go back to where you began, you go “oh yeah that’s how it started.”
Creepy as fuck, excellent horror. Very original and the use of camcorders and consumer camera equipment, however played out you might think it would be at this point, was superbly used to great and spooky effect!
I downloaded V/H/S/ off the Pirate Bay. Watch that shit. Definitely in my top ten best modern horror films of all time. The only reason I took so long to watch it was I thought I had seen it already but I hadn’t. It’s going into my horror Halloween movie marathon rotation.
Have you watched it already? Tell me what you think!
